Find a heat treater near you
Hardening, carburizing, nitriding, annealing and more. Tell us the material and the result you need. We introduce you to up to 3 commercial heat treaters nearby within 24 business hours.
Simplified quench and temper cycle. Real cycles depend on material, section size and spec.
Not sure which process you need?
Start with the result. The process follows from it.
Heat treating processes we match
| Process | Typical materials | What you specify |
|---|---|---|
| Quench and temper | Alloy steels, tool steels, 4140, 4340, D2, H13 | Hardness range (HRC) |
| Carburizing | Low carbon steels, 8620, 9310 | Case depth and surface hardness |
| Induction hardening | Medium carbon steels, 1045, 4140 | Area, case depth, hardness |
| Nitriding | Nitriding steels, 4140, H13, some stainless | Case depth, surface hardness |
| Annealing and normalizing | Most steels, some non-ferrous | Final condition or hardness max |
| Stress relieving | Steels, weldments, machined parts | Temperature range if specified |
| Solution and aging | 6061, 7075, 17-4 PH stainless | Target temper (T6, H900, etc.) |
| Vacuum heat treating | Tool steels, stainless, aerospace alloys | Process and cleanliness needs |
Typical pairings only. Always follow your drawing and material spec.
What drives heat treat pricing
- Furnace loadsPrice is often per load or per pound with a minimum lot charge.
- Process timeLong soaks and deep cases take more furnace hours.
- Special atmosphereVacuum, nitriding and controlled atmospheres cost more than air furnaces.
- Testing and certsHardness tests, certs and pyrometry records add cost.
- StraighteningParts that move in quench may need straightening.

Questions
Are you a heat treating company?
No. We are a matching service. We find commercial heat treaters near you that run your process and introduce you. They quote and treat the parts.
Why does location matter for heat treating?
Parts usually travel to the heat treater and back, often more than once per order. A nearby heat treater saves freight and days, and lets you drop off and pick up urgent lots.
What should I include in the request?
Material grade, the process or result you need (for example hardness in HRC or case depth), part size and weight, quantity per lot and any spec such as AMS 2750 or customer requirements.
Do heat treaters charge a minimum?
Most do. A minimum lot charge is common because a furnace load costs about the same whether it holds one part or many. Grouping parts into fewer lots lowers cost per part.
Can you find Nadcap accredited heat treaters?
Yes. Select it on the form and we match only heat treaters who state they hold it. Confirm the accreditation scope with the heat treater.
Is it free?
Yes for buyers. Heat treaters pay for requests they accept.
